Learn It. Practice It. Use It.
Proudly serving Winston-Salem and the surrounding Triad community.
WHAT WE DO
Practical Skills. Real-Life Use.
Young men need more than information.
They need chances to practice outdoors.
Outdoor Life Leadership creates outdoor hands-on learning opportunities that help young men build skills they can use at home, in school, in their community, during an emergency, and as they prepare for adult life.
We focus on five areas:
Safety
Learn what to do before, during, and after an emergency.
Life Skills
Build useful skills for everyday life and greater self-reliance.
Leadership
Learn how to make decisions, take responsibility, and lead others.
Problem-Solving
Practice thinking clearly, adapting, and finding solutions.
Economic Opportunity
Connect useful skills to education, career, and income opportunities.

WHY WINSTON-SALEM?
Built in Winston-Salem. Built for Our Community.
Outdoor Life Leadership started with a simple idea:
-
Young people in our community deserve access to outdoor practical skills that help them handle real life.
-
We are building Outdoor Life Leadership from the ground up in Winston-Salem.
-
We listen to local needs.
-
We build local relationships.
-
We bring volunteers and community partners together.
-
We create hands-on learning opportunities.
-
And we measure what we do by the skills and opportunities young men gain.
Our goal is local impact first.
As we grow, we want to build a model that can serve other communities too.
But Winston-Salem is home.

Making Outdoor Survival and Safety Possible
OUR LEARNING MODEL
Learn It. Practice It. Use It.
We believe skills become useful when people actually use them.
Learn It
Get the knowledge needed to understand the skill.
Practice It
Use hands-on practice to build confidence and ability.
Use It
Apply the skill in a real situation.
This model helps turn information into action.
